The Arc of Washington Trust Fund is a 70-year-old non-profit providing student scholarships and research grants, and supporting programs educating professionals who work with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD). It is allied with, but separate from, The Arc of Washington State. Much of the Trust Fund’s focus is on preparing communities to accept and value those with I/DD and on finding better service systems to help individuals and their families. To that end, the Trust Fund makes student stipend awards to college and graduate students who have a history of working with disabled individuals and who are studying for careers working with those with I/DD. If you are aware of students meeting these criteria, please refer them to the Arc of Washington Trust Fund’s website, below. The Trust Fund also supports a training program for healthcare and other professionals interested in advocating for and providing services to I/DD individuals and their families (UW LEND, with remote learning outreach). Additionally, the Trust Fund provides research grants to young faculty investigators seeking to create or improve systems to better meet the needs of I/DD individuals and their families.
