Individuals who have an intellectual/developmental disability want to be able to live their lives in their own communities, enjoying the same daily freedom that others often take for granted. As the number of people being relegated to state institutions continues to decline, the self-advocacy movement continues to grow stronger. Throughout the state, self advocacy groups are impacting the values and policies of our state. The Arc of Washington State, through a grant from the Developmental Disabilities Council, offers technical assistance to groups interested in legislative advocacy. To arrange a workshop or presentation in your area, contact SAIL via phone at 1.888.754.8798, ext. 102, or by email at sail@arcwa.org
