Larry Jones Memorial Giving

Dear Friends:
We are so sad to say goodbye to a longtime advocate and dear friend to many in our community. Larry Jones, Ph.D., J.D. was the father of a child with developmental disabilities who devoted his professional career to helping families understand the DD system. He was an attorney, historian and sociologist, a teacher and scholar in the disability rights movement who chronicled family advocacy in the United States in a book called “Doing Disability Justice”.
Larry was a strong supporter of The Arc and a steward of its nonprofit mission to ensure inclusion and full participation in the community, opposing any action to institutionalize or segregate people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
While we have lost a mentor and advocate, we will always remember his affable smile and laughter, encouraging others to join calls to action and volunteer their time.
Thank you, Larry, for your contributions to community, to your commitment to the cause, and for helping us remember where we came from and how far we have to go.
